Free Download: Gemstone Palettes and Glitch Effect Presets

Recently I have been working on various new palette packs for Dither Boy and believe it or not, some of the palettes I make are Extremely Terrible™ so before I upload anything here, I always load up Dither Boy and basically mess around so I can work out which palettes will be deleted and which will be available for download.

I originally made 50 for the Gemstone category but a lot of them were deleted while i filtered through. On the way I ended up creating some cool glitch effects though, so I'm putting those out alongside the palettes!

How To Install:

Now you've got the pack and know about USGS, all that's left is installing and dithering!

To install palettes, make sure you are on the latest version of Dither Boy first. I'll leave a link below for getting updated.

Once you're on the latest version, go to Settings (cog at top right of viewport) > Library > Import preset to get the preset files installed. You can use "Import Palettes" in the main dithering menu to install the Gemstones palette category.

...But if you'd like to load up on some super interesting and unique stock images of gemstones, crystals, geology or shiny rocks then I would highly recommend checking out the public domain library from USGS (United States Geological Survey) which is partly available on Unsplash (https://unsplash.com/@USGS) but available in full on the actual USGS site (https://www.usgs.gov/) free of charge thanks to the American Taxpayer!

A not very fun fact about USGS and public domain libraries of images similar to USGS is that quite a lot of people who sell graphic design assets are actually just scraping images from libraries like these and charging you for it, so next time you see some geology or crystal imagery in someone's $30 "Nature Textures" asset pack, ask yourself "How would this person have obtained rare geological samples and photographed them just for combining with paper_texture_9 or a gradient map?" and then check USGS before buying!
