Future Medieval Resources:
The term “Future Medieval” refers to a trend in design that combines old public domain & vintage graphics with modern typography, effects, or media. You can find work in this style by people like Caroline Dietl, Foiegraphics, or Christos.jpeg (and many more)
If you want to find out more information about future medieval, I highly highly recommend watching this amazing video by official friend of Studio AAA, Ram (aka Oversettext) below (You should also note that I have top comment on this video!)
You can also have a read of this article on ItsNiceThat by Elizabeth Goodspeed! (You should also follow Elizabeth on twitter)
And in terms of getting your hands on some Medieval imagery to Retro-Futurize, you can go to any of these places and find some public domain files that you’ll be fine to use (check license info for each file though)
- Unsplash, Pexels, Rawpixel (Stock photo website, has SOME genuine medieval stuff, mostly new stuff though)
- Rijksmuseum (Museum in Amsterdam that has a cool archive of stuff you can save)
- Public.work (Cool website, I have used this in my tutorial content)
How to enter:
To enter, join our Discord server and look for the #entries channel, and share either a LINK to your post on social media, or just a static image showing your work.
The Studio AAA/Dither Boy Discord server *is* a join-by-application server, meaning that I have to manually approve each member. This can be annoying for when you are just joining, but it means the server is a much better place for existing members because I can filter out spam bots and all sorts of other stuff. If your application is pending, it isn’t because i’m ignoring it! Sometimes we get 90 join applications and only 6 or 7 are people who actually should have the link, so it just takes some time to filter through the rubbish.
